The fund was created in 2002 by Unibank for Savings to honor the everyday heroes who responded to the September 11th tragedy and to help local emergency personnel become better prepared.
Organizations that deploy emergency service teams in the towns of the Blackstone Valley: Millbury, Grafton, Northbridge, Upton, Hopedale, Mendon, Blackstone, Millville, Uxbridge, Douglas and Sutton are encouraged to apply. The Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Mary B. Grogan Fund for Youth. Created in 2001, in dedication of Mary Grogan’s decades of leadership in the Worcester County 4-H Foundation, the fund specifically benefits young residents of Millbury. The fund provides financial support for educational and recreational projects in the following categories:
An appointed advisory committee of Millbury residents determines how grants will be awarded. Typical grants range from $200 – $1,000. Applicants must be a nonprofit that supports Millbury youth.
Greater Worcester Community Foundation is currently accepting grant applications for the Jeppson Memorial Fund for Brookfield. The Fund provides money to civic and community projects that help improve the lives of Brookfield residents and enrich the cultural environment.
Greater Worcester Community Foundation is currently accepting grant applications for Fairlawn Foundation. Fairlawn Foundation is dedicated to improving health and health care in the Worcester area through grants to nonprofit organizations in our region. Since its inception, more than $400,000 has been awarded yearly in grants to support capital needs, clinical services, and professional education. In 2013, Fairlawn Foundation aligned its funding guidelines with the Greater Worcester Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) priorities.
