Our Scholarship Program is Possible through the Generosity of many Donors

We are grateful to the many generous individuals, families, and businesses from all over Worcester County who have created these scholarship funds to help young people and adult learners reach their potential.

In 2011, the Foundation awarded 372 scholarships amounting to $558,364. Awards ranged from $250 to $5,000. Many of the scholarships are renewable.

Scholarships marked with (*) below are open to older students and adults returning to college.

  Wallace D. and Dorothy M. Andrews Scholarship For African American graduating high school seniors with demonstrated financial need and pursuing a degree in the fields of bioscience, mathematics, engineering or physics.
* Adolfo Arrastia Beacon of Light Scholarship For young people who are members of the Worcester Youth Center.
  Helen and Chuck Arsenault Memorial Scholarship For Leicester High School graduating seniors.
* Auburn Woman's Club Scholarship For Auburn residents of any age.
  AVID North Scholarship For graduating seniors from North High School who participated in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program for four years.
  Belmont Street Community School Scholarship For graduating seniors who attended Belmont Street Community School, for one or more years including 6th grade and plans to pursue a career in a health field.
  Loretta J. Belval Scholarship For graduating female students from Northbridge to pursue a career in teaching.
  Bruce S. Bennett Fund for Community Journalism To encourage and support young people in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette circulation area in the exploration of careers in journalism. Preference to minority youth.
   Mary Ann Binkoski Scholarship For graduating high school seniors who reside in Worcester, MA and will be pursing a degree in education.
  Mary and John Buckley Memorial Scholarship For financially needy Roman Catholic graduating seniors from Worcester.
  The Edward Carien Scholarship For graduating seniors from Doherty High School with preference to students entering the field of accounting.
  The Carrick Foundation Scholarship For outstanding graduating seniors from high schools in Northbridge, Douglas, or Uxbridge.
  Charlton Parent Teacher Organization Scholarship For graduating seniors from Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School and Shepherd Hill Regional High School. Students must be residents of Charlton and have attended Charlton public K-8 schools for five years.
  Mary Connolly Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Sutton High School.
  Cutler Associates, Inc. Scholarship For undergraduates (under the age of 23) who are children of and residing with current employees of Cutler Associates, Inc.
* December 3rd Scholarship For recent high school graduates who are children of current, disabled, or deceased City of Worcester firefighters or police officers.
  Santo J. and Ellen M. DiDonato Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Bartlett High School and Shepherd Hill Regional High School.
  Steve Drawbridge Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Wachusett Regional High School who are members of the varsity ice hockey team.
  John and Fran Duke Scholarship For graduating seniors from St. Mary's High School or South High Community School in Worcester.
  Richard and Carol Dymek Scholarship For graduating seniors from Wachusett Regional High School.
  Joseph D. Early Scholarship For graduating seniors who reside in Worcester.
  East Brookfield Scholarship For graduating seniors from East Brookfield planning to attend a 4 year college or university.
  Stephen G. Economos Scholar Athlete Scholarship For graduating seniors who have participated in softball for a minimum of 4 years and will be attending a 4 year college.
  Jeffrey S. Edinberg Memorial Scholarship For Worcester public high school graduating seniors.
  Elm Park Community School Scholarship For graduating seniors (or GED) who completed two years at Elm Park Community School.
  John N. Engelsted Scholarship For female graduating seniors to study engineering.
  Fred and Leona Eppinger Scholarship For graduating seniors from David Prouty High School.
* Fairlawn Foundation Robert S. Schedin Scholarship for Health Studies For students in ancillary health care fields (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, lab technician, etc.) studying at a Worcester area college.
  Mary R. Fedeli Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Sterling.
* Anita and Nathaniel A. Feingold Scholarship For undergraduates who are children of current employees of the Feingold Companies to engage in a full time program of education or training in a trade.
  Norma and Saul F. Feingold Scholarship For graduating seniors from Worcester to attend a Worcester college.
  Finnish American Social Club Scholarship For graduating seniors of Finnish heritage; especially to study history, political science or economics.
  Fitchburg Sportsmen's Club Scholarship For students pursuing a degree in wildlife habitat, fisheries or forestry management; agriculture; environmental law; or wildlife or marine biology at an accredited college or university. Additionally, the applicants would be drawn from membership in the club (i.e. a relative is a member in good standing).
* Earl P. Fontaine Memorial Scholarship To provide tuition assistance to a Leicester resident attending college.
* Janet Fraser Scholarship For young people who are residents of the town of Medway. Requires this additional essay: Describe a person who embodies the idea of excellence, whom you are inspired by and admire.
  John F. Freeland Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Sutton High School with disabilities.
* Friends of Rutland Heights Hospital Scholarship For students enrolled in a course of study leading to certification and employment in direct patient care, preferably in the Worcester area.
* The Judge William Garbose Memorial Scholarship For residents of Worcester County with preference to residents of Athol, Royalston, Petersham, Phillipston, and Templeton to study criminal justice or a related field.
  Derek Gaudette Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from David Prouty High School.
* The General Scholarship For Worcester County residents of any age.
  Robert P. Goulet Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Tahanto Regional High School with outstanding community service.
* Grantee Agency Scholarship For youth who volunteer with, participate in, or are employed by agencies receiving 2010 competitive grants from Greater Worcester Community Foundation. Requires a letter of nomination from the grantee agency executive director.
  The Grynsel Educational Scholarship For youth who are actively involved with St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Westborough.
* Emil Haddad Memorial Jazz Scholarship For young people (under age 26) to study jazz music at the college level; may include performance, composition, arranging or teaching. Requires a recommendation from a current jazz teacher.
  Joseph F. and Claire L. Halvey Scholarship For graduating seniors with great financial need.
  Marty Hastings Memorial Scholarship For student athletes graduating from Burncoat High School who participate in multi varsity sports.
  The Hedin Family Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Auburn High School to attend a 4 year college. Preference given to those preparing for a career in teaching. Must be a resident of Auburn and have attended Auburn High School for at least three years.
  Maureen Henrickson Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Sutton High School, especially former students of Mrs. Henrickson or students pursuing a career in education or veterinary medicine.
  Charles Hugo Community Service Award For graduating seniors from Wachusett High School, living in the towns of Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland or Sterling and who have shown a consistent volunteer effort to the Wachusett community and beyond.
  Jenica Lynn Junnila Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Sutton who completed at least two years in the Sutton public school system. Preference for students who demonstrate an interest in art/architecture or landscape architecture/horticulture.
  Deborah A. Kaufman Scholership For graduating Worcester public high school seniors who participated in programs at Friendly House. Preference to those who attended Grafton Street Elementary School for at least one year.
* Lawrence M. and Augusta L. Keeler Scholarship Residents of the town of Northbridge seeking undergraduate education.
* Bradford J. Kemp Scholarship For Webster residents of any age.
* Max H. Kuhner and Eloise A. Kuhner Scholarship For Oakham residents, under the age of 25, to pursue careers in medicine or nursing.
  Leonard F. Leamy Scholarship For graduating seniors intending to major in mathematics or plans to teach mathematics. Preference for students from North High School.
  Leicester High School Football Alumni Scholarship For graduating seniors from Leicester High School who have played football for at least two years.
* Leicester Samaritan Nursing Association Scholarship For Leicester residents to pursue full- or part-time studies in a health-related field.
* Leicester Savings Bank Fund Scholarship For Leicester residents. Preference for those who have contributed to the Leicester community through involvement in extracurricular activities, work or volunteering.
  Mark MacPherson Lightbown Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Northbridge High School to study athletics, physical education, or health sciences.
  Lincoln Village Tenants Association Scholarship For graduating seniors who are residents of Lincoln Village in Worcester.
  Mary Falby Logan and Francis Logan, Jr. Scholarship For graduating seniors from Boylston.
* Lunenburg Opportunity Fund Scholarship For young people from Lunenburg. Requires this additional essay: Describe a person who embodies the idea of excellence, whom you are inspired by and admire.
  Daniel Stephen Lussier Athletic Scholarship For students who have attended Worcester county area high schools as well as both Framingham and Natick High Schools. Preference to students concentrating in the area of sports medicine.
  L.W.V.O. Memorial Scholarship For students of Lithuanian descent with preference given to the families of veterans to further their education.
  Lieutenant James F. "Jay" Lyons III Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Doherty High School to attend a Worcester college. Preference to those who will attend Clark University or who have been involved with Why Me, Inc.
  Magee Family Scholarship for UMass-Amherst For graduating seniors to attend University of Massachusetts Amherst. Preference to those who are first in their family to attend college.
* Francis F. Mansfield Scholarship For Worcester County students planning to attend specialized schools, two or four year colleges on a full or part-time basis.
* Howard J. and Dorothy R. McGuiness Scholarship For students with financial need who are studying nursing at Worcester State College or Quinsigamond Community College.
  Anthony E. Mickunas Scholarship For Worcester High School and Norwood High School seniors to pursue health studies. Preference to Lithuanian students.
* Michael Minty Memorial Scholarship For children of present or deceased members of the Worcester Rugby Football Club.
  Anne Carey Murphy Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from North Brookfield High School to study English or a related field in preparation for becoming a teacher.
  Nichols Academy Marilyn T. and Gerald Fels Scholarship For graduating seniors from Webster or Dudley to attend a Worcester County college.
  Arnold and Sylvia Nylund Scholarship For graduating seniors of Scandinavian ancestry.
  Sarah Daniels Pettit and William O. Pettit, Jr. Scholarship For graduating seniors from Worcester High Schools with financial need.
* Richard W. Pierce Scholarship For high school graduates to study graphic design or commercial art. Submit 5-7 examples of recent work for review on CD; we can’t guarantee return of artwork.
  Arthur J. Remillard, Jr. Scholarship For African-American graduating seniors from Worcester County.
  Barbara Marks Rothschild Arts & Education Scholarship For Worcester County graduating seniors from the Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science to pursue studies in education or a field that involves art.
* Ida and Murray Rotman Scholarship For children of employees of Rotman’s Furniture Company and Murida Furniture Company, Inc. to attend an accredited college.
* Herbert D. Sherwin Memorial Scholarship For students graduating from community college to continue studies at a four-year college; preference for Worcester residents or students attending a Worcester college.
  William J. Short Scholarship For graduating high school seniors in the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and affiliate service area, especially students who have a demonstrated commitment to community service and plan to pursue careers in business or public service.
* The Alexander G. Simonatis Scholarship For Princeton residents of any age who are graduates of a public high school.
* Claudia Simonian Scholarship For current or former Sutton High School students to attend college.
  John J. Simpson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Doherty Memorial High School.
  Arthur J. Smith and Dorothy G. Smith Scholarship For graduating seniors from South High School with financial need to pursue a 4-year degree.
* Sylvia Gafvert Stubblebine Scholarship For students of any age from the Worcester area to study instrumental classical music. Requires an audition with Music Worcester, a 5-7 minute movement from a concerto or classical work, on an orchestral instrument or piano. Additional information will be mailed after the scholarship deadline has passed.
  The Summers Family Educational Scholarship For youth who are actively involved with Holy Angels Parish in Upton, MA.
  Swedish National Federation Scholarship For graduating seniors of Scandinavian heritage.
  Tahanto Regional High School Scholarship For graduating seniors from Tahanto Regional High School.
  Kathleen Terry Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Tantasqua Regional High School who reside in Brimfield, Brookfield, Fiskdale, Holland, Sturbridge, or Wales. Preference to students living in Brookfield.
  Robert Thomson Scholarship For children and grandchildren (living in MA or CT) of individuals who were employed a minimum of five years by Christie & Thomson, Inc. or affiliated Companies or when there is no eligible Christie & Tthomson applicant a student graduating from Worcester Technical High School seeking to further their education in eeh automotive field can be considered.
  Sumner B. Tilton Memorial Scholarship For graduating seniors from Worcester and contiguous towns (Auburn, Boylston, Grafton, Holden, Leicester, Millbury, Paxton, Shrewsbury, W. Boylston) to attend an outstanding college; recipients may be eligible for renewal awards for law school.
  Laurie C. Tinsley Scholarship For graduating seniors with financial need due to the death or disability of a parent. Include a statement regarding your family's circumstances.
  Tobin Family Scholarship For African-American graduating seniors from Worcester County.
  Reginald Washburn Scholarship For graduating seniors who are Worcester residents and are members of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, or Girls, Inc.
  Webster Square Business Association Scholarship For graduating seniors from South Community High School and employees (or family members) of Webster Square Business Association member businesses.
* Leroy Weiner Scholarship For Jewish students with financial need who have performed community service; preference for members of Congregation B’nai Shalom (Westborough) and residents of Westborough, Northborough or Southborough.
* The Paul J. Westberg Memorial Scholarship For Worcester residents pursing a career in criminal justice.
   Leonard H. White Scholarship For children (son, daughter, including step children) niece, nephew, and grandchildren — A preference will be given to sons and daughters of employees who have been employed at RH White Companies, Milford Water or Whitinsville Water for a minimum of five (5) years. Applicants are only eligible up to age 24 and must be seeking to further his/her education in Business, Engineering, Construction, or Management.
* Mary Olive Wood Scholarship For Oxford High School graduates of any age to attend college, vocational training or graduate school.
* Worcester Latino Coalition Scholarship For Latino youth and adults, particularly those working in health and human services.
  Worcester Swedish Charitable Association Scholarship For graduating seniors of Scandinavian ancestry.
  Worcester Woman’s Club Scholarship For graduating seniors from Worcester public schools who are residents of Worcester.

“I wanted to be graphic designer since I was 12 years old,” says Alexis, a recipient of a Richard W. Pierce Scholarship and a Grantee Agency Scholarship who started attending House of Peace & Education in Gardner as a child. “HOPE made me who I am, a strong independent leader. Now, at college, I’m where I’m supposed to be. I love every minute of it.”
