We offer a variety of giving options. You decide the fund's purpose and whether principal may be distributed. Choose one that's right for you or mix and match to create a fund that reflects your individual charitable interests. Whatever option you choose, a Named Fund is easy to create. Simply transfer to the Foundation a gift (see Giving Now) at a minimum of $10,000 (or $2,500 and pledge to contribute a total of $10,000 within four years). Administrative fees vary with the type of fund established.
You understand that community needs change over time. By creating a discretionary fund you enable the Foundation's Distribution Committee to support local programs addressing all aspects of community life - arts and culture, environment, health, neighborhood revitalization, and education, youth to name a few.
You identify one or more areas of community interest, leaving specific grant selection to the Distribution Committee or to an Advisory Committee.
You specify one or more nonprofit organizations to receive annual support. In the event that the organization no longer exists as a nonprofit charitable entity, the Foundation is authorized to select an alternate beneficiary to fulfill your intent thereby assuring continued relevance of your gift over time.
You desire an active, ongoing role in making grant recommendations. You may also appoint successor advisors for one generation beyond yourself, providing a way for your children or other family members to be involved.
You wish to help students achieve their educational goals. With a scholarship fund at the Foundation you establish the criteria and select from a range of available Foundation services, including outreach, selection and award monitoring.
Created by nonprofits for their general or programmatic support while benefiting from the Foundations administrative services, investment management and permanence.
A supporting organization is a separate corporation organized in alliance with Greater Worcester Community Foundation. This arrangement bestows all of the benefits of public charity status and considerable administrative support.
To maximize smaller gifts or participate in ongoing efforts led by others, anyone may contribute gifts of any size to existing grant making funds. The Foundation has created the Youth Opportunity Fund, the General Scholarship Fund, the Fund for the Arts and Humanities, and The Founders Fund (a discretionary fund) to attract community support for pressing concerns.
