ABOUT THE FUND
The Class of 1966 Friends of Learning in Killingly (FOLK) Fund was created with gifts from members and friends of the High School Class of 1966 to promote innovative school-based educational projects in Killingly, Connecticut. The graduates wish to show their support for public education in their hometown, to encourage innovation and curriculum enhancement in the Killingly Public Schools, and to generally inspire the love of learning in current and future generations of Killingly children and youth.
The Fund is managed by Greater Worcester Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Worcester, Massachusetts that administers endowment gifts contributed by people and organizations to benefit their communities. An Advisory Committee of Class of 1966 graduates will determine grant awards.
AREAS OF INTEREST
The FOLK Fund will make grants up to $250 to support innovative, effective, curriculum enhancing school-based education projects in the Killingly Public Schools. Larger grants of $400-500 will be available for collaborations between teachers, academic departments or schools. Grants will be made for:
Priority will be given to applications that focus on student participation projects. The Fund will not support individual scholarships or capital expenditures.
Applicants are encouraged to show how they will attract other resources or secure matching funds from public or private sources to support the proposed project.
SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
There is no limit to the number of applications each public school in Killingly (Killingly High School, Killingly Intermediate School, Killingly Central School, Killingly Memorial School and Goodyear Early Childhood Center) may submit each year. Applications must be endorsed by the Principal or Director.
Application forms are available at the schools and at Greater Worcester Community Foundation. The Advisory Committee will review every complete and eligible application that is received by the deadline and awards will be announced in February.
Funds awarded must be spent by the end of the next school year.
