ABOUT THE FUND

The Leicester Savings Bank Fund is a permanent charitable resource to benefit residents of Leicester, Massachusetts. It was created in December 1997 with an endowment gift of $1 million made by Country Bank for Savings in Ware upon its merger with the Leicester Savings Bank. The Fund honors the Leicester Savings Bank for its decades of leadership.
The Fund will support projects that improve the quality of life and build a stronger community in Leicester.

An Advisory Committee of former trustees of Leicester Savings Bank has been appointed to determine how grants will be awarded. The Fund is managed by Greater Worcester Community Foundation, a nonprofit service organization that administers endowment gifts contributed by individuals and organizations to benefit people in cities and towns throughout Worcester County.

 

AREAS OF INTEREST

The purpose of the Leicester Savings Bank Fund is to provide financial support for projects which help to make life better for Leicester residents of every age.

To receive funding, applicants must state how they will use the grant to do the following:

• Make a positive difference for the Leicester community’s vulnerable citizens.
• Improve Leicester community life through community development, education, recreation, the arts, or human services.
• Attract other resources or secure matching funds from public or private sources.

ELIGIBILITY

Any non-municipal association or nonprofit organization that serves residents of Leicester is invited to apply. Grants are available for capital expenditures (to acquire or renovate property or equipment) or for operating expenses of specific programs or projects undertaken by associations or organizations. Grants will generally not be awarded
from this Fund to individuals or to municipal agencies.

 

DEADLINE

April 15

Note: If a deadline falls on a weekend or public holiday, proposals are due the following business day at 5:00 p.m
