ABOUT MINI-GRANTS

Greater Worcester Community Foundation awards Mini-grants in amounts up to $2,500 to nonprofit organizations, coalitions and community groups in the Central Massachusetts region. The money for
Mini-grants comes from our discretionary funds. Up to $50,000 is made available for Mini-grants each year.

Mini-grants enable us to respond more quickly to low-cost projects that have an impact on the people or organizations in our community.
Mini-grants are intended to provide organizations with an easier, faster way to receive a small amount of money for your community improvement efforts. Receiving a Mini-grant does not preclude you from receiving other grants from Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

As with all of our grant programs, you are advised to review the guidelines and then contact a Program Officer to discuss your
request before sending it in.

 

AREAS OF INTEREST

• Organizational Improvement: Training and conferences for staff or board members, collaborative planning efforts with other organizations, research, program evaluation, technology enhancement, equipment purchases
• Events and Gatherings
• Seminars, exhibitions, lectures, conferences; projects that foster understanding, awareness, learning, connections or pride
• Pilot Projects: Test an idea to discover whether an approach is viable; enhance a program that is helping you to meet your mission

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

• Your request may not exceed $2,500.
• Total expenses for the project should be under $10,000.
  Mini-grants may not be used for expenses already incurred by the applicant.
• No more than one Mini-grant award per year will be made to the same organization.
• Mini-grants are intended to support one-time rather than ongoing costs and are unlikely to be renewed.
• Public schools or other public agencies will typically not receive Mini-grants, although may be involved as partners in funded efforts.
• Mini-grants are not awarded to individuals.

 

DEADLINE

There are no deadlines to apply. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis by Foundation staff. Decisions are made within 30 days.
