Apply for a Capital Grant

REVIEW PROCESS AND REQUIRED FORMS

Capital grants will be considered through a three-step process (see chart at the bottom of this page).

STEP 1. PRE-APPLICATION

A pre-application is required for any organization seeking a capital grant. Organizations will be required to submit the following:

  1. Grant application coversheet, MS Word or PDF

MS Word form may be saved for further editing, printing or archiving. Download the document, then "Save As".

PDF form is "Print Only" if using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Be advised that none of the text you fill in can be saved. If this is important to you, prepare your responses in a word processing program and then copy and paste the text into this form.
  2. A campaign case statement summarizing the project, rationale, and its importance to our community. The statement might include schematics or other information that will help us to better understand the project.
  3. Capital campaign plan and budget showing progress to date (sources and expenses)
  4. 3-year financial trend report form, MS Excel, detailing change in
  5. Operating budget for current and one prior year, MS Excel
  6. Current list of board of directors with affiliation (one page)
  7. 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Letter
  8. Projected operating pro forma (revenue and expenses) for two years
  9. Your two most recent audited financial statements

STEP 2. SITE VISIT

Following receipt of the pre-application by the deadline (see chart below), a program officer will arrange a time to visit the organization on-site for a discussion about the application.

You may be asked to supply additional information at this time. The officer will indicate whether to proceed with a funding request and suggest a dollar range for the request. This indication from a program officer will not assure a grant.

The site visit will be conducted to allow sufficient time for applicants to complete the full application to be submitted to one of our two routine discretionary deadlines.

STEP 3. COMPLETION OF DISCRETIONARY GRANT APPLICATION

Following completion of the pre-application review process, organizations must complete a FULL discretionary grant application. Forms and instructions are available at www.greaterworcester.org/grants/grants1.htm. Awards are subject to distribution committee evaluation and available resources.
