Worcester, MA - Greater Worcester Community Foundation has been named a bronze award winner for excellence in communications by the 2008 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. Sponsored by the Council on Foundations, the awards program recognizes effective communications efforts to increase public awareness of foundations and corporate giving programs.
Greater Worcester Community Foundation received the award for its 2006 annual report. The award will be presented at Philanthropy's Vision: A Leadership Summit, in National Harbor, Maryland, on Monday, May 5, 2008.
"It’s a great honor to be recognized at the national level," says Ann T. Lisi, executive director. "We admire the work of community foundations across the country that are helping make their communities stronger. Communicating our results, recognizing our donors, and inviting others to join with us are important aspects of our stewardship obligation."
The annual report team included Atomic Design of Boylston, Dan Vaillancourt of Patrick O'Connor Photography in Shrewsbury, writer Susan Saccoccia of Cambridge, and editor Linda Chadwick, a member of the Foundation staff.
Entries to the awards program included annual or biennial reports, magazines/periodicals, special reports, public information campaigns and websites. This year, 213 entries were submitted to the awards program.
