Worcester, MA -- The third annual Community Ministries Conference was held on Tuesday, April 27 at the College of the Holy Cross. Dr. Melinda Boone, Superintendent of the Worcester Public Schools was the keynote speaker addressing the role of faith communities in support of public education.
Following Dr. Boone's address, Rev. Robert Bachelder, Minister and President of the Worcester Area Mission Society, represented the Community Ministries Fund Advisory Committee to award 2010 grants totaling $24,200 to nine Worcester-area organizations.
The Community Ministries Fund is a permanent endowment created by the Worcester Area Mission Society, United Church of Christ and the Worcester Area United Methodists through gifts to Greater Worcester Community Foundation. Its purpose is to support ministries in Worcester that more deeply connect congregations to their neighborhoods, including programs that entail partnerships with other nonprofit organizations.
