Worcester, MA -- The Mary B. Grogan Fund for Youth, an endowed fund of Greater Worcester Community Foundation, will distribute approximately $1,600 to nonprofits for educational and recreational projects for the youth of Millbury. An in-depth information session on grant guidelines and how to complete the standardized forms for this competitive grant process will be held at Millbury Public Library on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 6:30 pm. The session will last approximately one hour.
The fund honors educator Mary B. Grogan for her decades of leadership in the Millbury community, and was created in August 2001 with an endowment gift of $50,000 made by Worcester County 4-H Foundation upon their dissolution. An appointed advisory committee of Millbury residents will review grant proposals and recommend awards.
Proposals focusing on aspects of the environment, agriculture, horticulture and animal life are preferred. Grants typically range from $300 to $1,000. Recent grants have supported a nature trail, summer vacation activities, a celebrity reader series, historic interpretation and technology exploration in Millbury.
Attendance at the information session is not required to apply to the Mary B. Grogan Fund for Youth. Applications are due by 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Greater Worcester Community Foundation office located at 370 Main Street, Suite 650, Worcester, MA 01608. Application forms and guidelines are available at www.greaterworcester.org or by calling the Foundation at (508) 755-0980.
