Worcester, MA - Eleven nonprofit organizations received $24,104 from the Leicester Savings Bank Fund of Greater Worcester Community Foundation at a reception held on June 24, 2009 at the Leicester Council on Aging.
Representatives from Country Bank and the Foundation were on hand to congratulate and recognize recipients for projects that make a positive difference for the town’s vulnerable citizens and improve community life through development, education, recreation, arts and human services.
The Leicester Savings Bank Fund was created in December 1997 with a $1 million endowment gift made by Country Bank for Savings in Ware upon its merger with the Leicester Savings Bank. Grants are awarded by an advisory committee of former trustees of Leicester Savings Bank and local residents. Since 1998, more than $520,000 in grants and scholarships have been distributed to the Leicester community.
The fund is administered by Greater Worcester Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization that manages endowment gifts contributed by individuals and organizations to benefit people in cities and towns throughout Worcester County. To find out more, please visit www.greaterworcester.org.
