Maurice Boisvert Receives Foundation's Fourth Annual Renaissance Award

Award honors and thanks city's nonprofit leaders with cash prize

Worcester, MA - Greater Worcester Community Foundation announced the fourth annual Renaissance Award at its 33rd Annual Meeting held May 13, 2008. The recipient was Maurice (Moe) J. Boisvert, executive director of Youth Opportunites Upheld, Inc (YOU, Inc.).

An anonymous Foundation donor established the Renaissance Award to recognize and thank the people who devote their time and talents to making Worcester a better place. Singling out an individual rather than an organization, this year's award comes with a $5,989 cash prize from an endowed fund.

The Foundation's executive committee selects the recipient from nominees recommended by the staff and board. Candidates are individuals who have demonstrated for five years or more their commitment to the nonprofit sector, leadership and professional accomplishment, talent in fostering collaborative relationships, and imaginative thinking combined with constructive action.

Moe, a social worker and psychologist, was the first employee of YOU, Inc., and has been its CEO since 1976. Under his extraordinary leadership, his agency has grown to over 600 employees, functioning in a variety of inpatient and outpatient sites, including residential units, home settings, and in-patient care sites for very seriously young people.

He is a resident of Shrewsbury and, with his wife Pam, is the parent of four daughters.
