We mourn the passing of our dear friend and board chair, Peter H. Levine, MD, who died on Tuesday December 15 at age 71. Peter was a board member since 2003 and became chair in 2008. He was president emeritus of UMass Memorial Health Care and at the time of his death also a trustee of WPI and the MBI.
Peter was a passionate person with a caring heart, a brilliant mind, and seemingly boundless energy. He used his talents at engaging people in important and sometimes difficult community building efforts, such as defending programs for hard-to-serve youth and others at risk in society. He was Honorary Chair of our GLBT Partnership Fund and served as its key spokesperson. He will be remembered for creating a safe and welcoming community for all.
Our deepest sympathies go to his wife, Catherine Levine, and their sons Tom, Jim, and Bill and their families.
