Planned Giving Council
        of Central Massachusetts

Nonprofits play an integral role in America's quality of life. From music and art to the preservation of historic places and open space, to the fighting of disease and so much more - nonprofits provide vital services. The ability of nonprofits to deliver the programs and services you count on depends on the generosity of all of us.

It is estimated that 65-70% of households contribute to charity each year. And in its June 2008 issue, the Chronical for Philanthropy reported that one in five estates left a bequest (a gift of money or other assets) to charity in 2004.

To encourage more people to leave a gift to charity, Greater Worcester Community Foundation and many local nonprofit organizations, professional advisors and other community leaders have formed the Planned Giving Council of Central Massachusetts (PGCCM).

The mission of the Council is to inspire all people to make a lasting gift to the causes and organizations they care about most through will and estate planning.

One program of PGCCM is Leave a Legacy®. First piloted in Columbus, Ohio in 1996, it has become an international movement with regional initiatives throughout North America and Canada. The Council was the first to promote Leave a Legacy® in the Commonwealth.

To find out more about how easy and beneficial it can be to you and your family to make a bequest in your will, speak with your attorney or call Ann T. Lisi, executive director of Greater Worcester Community Foundation, at 508-755-0980.
