Read the thoughts and impressions on a variety of topics written by Foundation staff, as well as occasional guest bloggers about what’s happening at Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

We take pride in the wide ranging capacity of the Community Foundation’s interests and impact -- from early childhood and the environment to social justice and creativity.

Throughout Massachusetts and across the Country, youth are engaging with each other and their communities in different and new ways that broaden their philanthropic understanding.

We love the feel of autumn for many reasons, including the back-to-school mindset and the promise of fresh learning. For our many friends who lead local community nonprofits, we are especially mindful of the need to discuss new ideas with peers.

There’s a lot of work that goes into identifying the right interventions on a community level. Fortunately, Worcester County enjoys a strong network of thoughtful and strategic nonprofit organizations committed to doing what works -- mobilizing people, learning from practice, and working collaboratively with others.

There is an African proverb which reads, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

I recently came across an interesting Forbes article titled, Innovation: Five Keys to Educating the Next Generation of Leaders, and was immediately inspired by the first line, “the best way to predict the future is to create it.”

Taking stock during this season of gratitude, I am especially mindful of the wonderful diversity that is our community. Worcester -- the second largest city in New England – is now and has always been home to a bounty of residents from many places and nations across the globe.
