“Congratulations! It is my pleasure to inform you…” This is the phrase that every college-bound senior hopes to see from the schools they’ve applied to. But once accepted, how do they afford it?

Columbus Day has passed, and summer 2016 is in the rear view mirror. Before it fades further, I want to report back to you on the progress of our work for young children since my last posting in June.

For any high school senior applying for college, finding scholarship aid to help with tuition can be an unwelcome additional assignment. But thanks to Greater Worcester Community Foundation’s single-online application, the process is just a bit smoother for hundreds of Worcester County families every year.

During April, the Foundation awarded $341,000 to twelve projects through our children’s initiative, a grant making and advocacy effort to change the possibilities for Worcester’s youngest children and their families.
