Thanks to the generosity and support of the Barr Foundation, Greater Worcester Community Foundation has joined Creative Commonwealth, a new initiative to strengthen arts and creativity across Massachusetts.

It is that wonderful time of year as we open the annual Fall Community Grants Program and begin the process of our largest cycle of grant review.

We share the sentiment of our partners and friends at the Worcester County Food Bank (WCFB) that food is a matter of societal justice.

As the first eight years of life are the most critical for human development, we have come to believe that what matters most are the types of environments that we create for children.

We take pride in the wide ranging capacity of the Community Foundation’s interests and impact -- from early childhood and the environment to social justice and creativity.

It was just ten years ago when Greater Worcester Community Foundation received a challenge grant from the National Gay & Lesbian Funding Partnership to develop the region’s first (and still only) community fund serving the LGBT communities of Central Massachusetts.

During April, the Foundation awarded $341,000 to twelve projects through our children’s initiative, a grant making and advocacy effort to change the possibilities for Worcester’s youngest children and their families.

Here at GWCF, we're all about developing a strong network of collaborative relationships with our region's nonprofits.
