Grant Application Process

We require an online application for all grant programs. The first time an organization applies to the Foundation through our online application system, it creates an organization account to use for each application going forward. If this your first time applying online, please create a new account.

Before You Apply

Check Your Eligibility

Grants are made only to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations serving the greater Worcester region (cities and towns of Worcester County). We prefer to fund organizations that are based in the region; outside organizations must be able to demonstrate the significant role of local partners, advisors, and/or planning steps which garner local understanding and support. Non-incorporated organizations may apply through an established nonprofit that agrees to provide fiscal oversight (a fiscal agent). All grantees must be able to demonstrate sound planning and fiscal stewardship, have a legitimate and effective governing board, and agree to the Foundation’s reporting requirements. Public agencies, municipal departments, and houses of worship are not typically eligible to receive discretionary grants.

Contact a Program Officer

We would like to hear from you in advance of your proposal, especially if you have never applied before or if there is something new to discuss. This conversation will allow you to learn more about us and how we operate, and for us to learn about your organization. To speak with a Program Officer, call 508-755-0980.

The Application Process

Our Online Application system allows you to:

  • Upload files directly from your own server
  • Share drafts with others at your organization
  • Log on/off until ready to submit
  • Receive immediate confirmation that your application is complete
  • Keep track of your application history

Helpful Hints:

  • Please write down and save your password
  • You’ll use the same log-in information for all applications to the Foundation, over time
  • If someone else from your organization has applied to the Foundation, they have already created an account for your organization
  • If possible, please use the account created by your organization’s previous applicant

Community Grant Program Special Instructions:

To help you prepare a more effective proposal to our
Community Grant Program, we've created a set of instructions.
Please read this if you are applying!

Deletion of Drafts Policy:

Unless the applicant requests otherwise through an email to, the Foundation shall delete any applications remaining in “draft” stage 60 days after the deadline.

After You Apply

Once your application has been completed and moved forward for consideration, you will be assigned a program officer, who will contact you to develop an understanding of your organization and its distinctive strengths, challenges and aspirations. Every completed application will be considered by a Foundation committee. Every applicant will be notified of the status, either approved or declined.
