All Things New in the Sector

  • Blue Avocado is an easy to read e-newsletter filled with useful information, provocative commentary, and tools for working productively. Check out its archive to benefit from all the topics that have been covered either in Blue Avocado or the earlier Board Cafe.
  • The Nonprofit Quarterly considers itself the Harvard Business Review for the nonprofit sector. Current articles and commentary available online; print subscriptions available.
  • More than 3,000 executive directors participated in Daring to Lead 2011, a national study produced in partnership by CompassPoint and the Meyer Foundation. Explore this website for reports, current findings, and to learn about the implications for nonprofit executives and boards, philanthropy, and capacity builders. In 2015 Third Sector New England published Leadership New England that offers an up-to-date New England perspective.
  • Valuing Our Nonprofit Workforce provides a current look at compensation in the Massachusetts nonprofit sector. The survey, sponsored by Third Sector New England, is a searchable salary and benefits information resource for small to mid-sized nonprofits.
  • Social Media Resources from the American Antiquarian Society – Social Media Presentation [PPT] and Social Media Policy [DOC].

Finding a Consultant

Boston Foundation Directory of Racial Equity Capacity Builders

In June of 2020, the Boston Foundation commission this directory of individuals and organizations that provide racial equity consulting or training services. This is a resource to help the sector center equity and nonprofits to advance racial equity within their own organizations. View it here

New England Nonprofit Consultant Directory

The NSC joined with the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and the Human Service Forum in Springfield to establish this searchable database that provides nonprofit organizations with information about the skills, specializations, and interests of individual consultants who serve our region. None of the sponsoring organizations endorses any consultant in the directory and users are urged to check references before hiring. View it here
